Apple Acquires PrimeSense
Apple has today acquired PrimeSense, which is the camera behind Xbox One’s 3D Kinect technology.
Ramblings of an acquisition were reported earlier this month, however the deal has finally been made today.
This is an interesting acquisition for Apple and it shows that they are heavily focused on motion detecting and camera functionality. It could open up iPads and iPhones to an array of motion gesture technology that we could soon see in their devices as soon as 2014.
The rumor is now that Apple is taking this very seriously and soon we could be able to control our iPhones with our hands and not have to even touch the phone. This could also make for interesting leaps in technology on wearable computing that Apple could one day develop.
