Apple Aims to Fix Bug that Allows Lock Screen Password to be Bypassed

The latest Apple iOS software fix, designed to fix a nasty bug that allows unauthorized users to bypass the lock screen and access user data, is still ineffective.

Just a day ago Apple released iOS 6.1.3, which fixes a security bug that allows someone to bypass the pin number on the lock screen however, the update is still posing problems.

The initial bypass flaw was found on Wednesday last week by youtube user “videosdebarraquito” who demonstrates how users can access a locked handset by ejecting the SIM card while using voice control to make a call.

The video shows that by activating voice control and using a paper clip to extract the SIM card the password logon can be bypassed.

Apple responded to the bug fix and released iOS 6.1.3 to rectify the problem however the new fix only reduces the amount of content that can be accessed and does not completely rectify the situation.

For now users have been advised to turn off their “voice control” option in the settings menu to avoid unwanted access to their iPhone.
