The Explosion of 3D Printing

3D Printing has exploded in the past year and most of it due to a company called Shapeways.

They started in 2007 and began selling 3D prints that would spit out plastic versions of designs made on the computer.

In the past few years the company has branched off into some additional materials such as sandstone, steel and ceramic. They can also now do full color 3D printing.

They are currently opening a number of facilities in the U.S. to expand their 3D printing efforts. The goal is to have shops near all major U.S. cities so that companies and individuals can have easy access and less wait times to get their hands on the 3D prints.

Shapeways has come to be a 3D printing powerhouse and in a market that’s not always keen on change.
